Simple Weaves, from VAV magazine
Trafalgar Square Books is pleased to announce the publication of Simple Weaves by Birgittia Bengtsson Björk and Tina Ignell. Readers will find instructions for weaving all sorts of projects—from towels, place mats, and throws, to rugs, pillows, and curtains. Chapters include weaving techniques such as plain weave and twill; canvas and spot weave; monk’s belt and honeycomb; rosepath, Daldräll, and crackle weave; plus waffle weave, color effects, M’s and O’s, halvdräll, and true dräll. All patterns can be varied by using different types of yarn and suggested weaves can easily be combined.
Birgittia Bengtsson Björk studied at Konstfack (University College of Arts, Crafts, and Design) in Stockholm, Sweden, and has many years of experience designing for industry. Tina Ignell is the head editor of Vävmagasinet (the Scandinavian Weaving Magazine), which she runs together with photographer Bengt Arne Ignell. Tina and Bengt Arne Ignell have brought us the popular books Favorite Rag Rugs and Favorite Scandinavian Projects to Weave, both published by Trafalgar Square Books. Tina studied in the advanced handcraft program at Handarbetets Vänner (Friends of Handcraft), also inStockholm.
