Handcrafted boat shuttles
These handcrafted shuttles were made by Sylvain Méthot, a Quebec artisan. In different wood species, they measure 29 cm long by 4 cm wide and 2.5 cm high.
The Ashford bobbins fit perfectly on these shuttles.
Sylvain Méthot is passionate about woodworking, even though his career as a business manager did not allow him to spend full-time on it. In the 1980s, he designed and built furniture for his children. Little by little, he developed his skills by making numerous pieces of furniture such as an oak tambour secretary, a bloodwood or satin ruban audio cabinet, an African padouk bedroom set, maple and oak bookcases, an amaranth coffee table, cherry wood bed bases and many others.
Today, Sylvain is retired. He spends a lot of time in the workshop in the basement of the family home. He continues to make furniture and accessories according to requests. All his pieces are unique: dimensions, wood species, style.
When his wife acquired a table loom, he began making shuttles and other weaving accessories for her.
Sylvain Méthot creates products that are sustainable. He uses almost exclusively raw wood, in native American species (black walnut, maple, cherry, oak, etc.) and exotic species (amaranth, African padouk, zebrano, etc.): woods that he particularly appreciates for their nobility and durability.
