Ashford's 16-frame table loom: what an experience!

For the past few weeks, I've been testing the Ashford 16-frame table loom.

This loom is also available in 8 or 4 frames in weaving widths of 40, 60 or 80 cm. These weaving looms are portable (the 16 frames still requires some muscles!), foldable and so effective.

I will talk more about the 4 and 8 table looms later to focus today on the 16 frames. This weaving loom is made on a regular basis with a weaving width of 60 cm (24''), a nice width for a table loom, but some limited editions are also available from time to time.
It comes in spare parts. The instructions (a succession of diagrams) allow you to put this puzzle together - which isn't really one! - in a few hours. I also have a video on Tisse et File Youtube channel. The wood, silver beech, is varnished and the overall appearance is superb. The loom looks robust and provides a good seat that persists when embedded in its table (optional).

Warping this loom is done easily: threading is smooth - it is just necessary to be careful at the the direction of winding as it a little different on the Ashford table loom.

And here we are at the weaving... I love it!
I grant you, a table loom remains a table loom and the movement is never as fluid as on a floor loom, but still, these Ashford table looms are really nice.
I like the suspended beater, facilitating regularity (in my opinion) and movement. I like the handles to lift the frames: wide, easy to lift and lower. The movement is flexible, steady. The handles are controlled individually, which increases the possibility of patterns.
Finally, I like to weave in peace, so this loom perfectly meets my expectations: be it the Texsolv heddles, the frames, the beater ... everything is relatively quiet.

Of course this loom, like all multi frames, can be used with only a few frames. Thus, it adapts to all levels of weaving, but offers a huge opportunity for evolution for people who want to create complex patterns.

Overall, I really like this loom. It's also great value for money.
