Loes van Aken: The Designer Behind Lojan

Behind the Lojan brand lies a story of family connection and shared craftsmanship.

Loes van Aken grew up surrounded by wood, weaving and spinning. As a child, she played in her father’s factory, Louët bv. The smell of wood and the sounds of machines were part of her daily life. Later, she studied mechanical engineering and gained solid professional experience before joining her father’s company.

She worked at Louët bv for about fifteen years, before stepping back to focus on her family, especially during the pandemic. When Jan Louët stepped away from Louët, Loes realized that he wasn’t ready to stop creating—and neither was she.

In 2023, they founded Lojan bv, a new company where they could apply everything they had learned, with a modern and sustainable approach.

🌱 A commitment to responsible weaving

For Loes, building a thoughtful, eco-conscious company is essential.
Lojan’s offices are furnished with second-hand furniture. All received packaging is kept and reused. Machines are maintained and used responsibly. Some equipment even comes from Louët, continuing the family story.

Lojan is the meeting point between 50 years of craftsmanship and the modern vision of an engaged woman.
