From Louët to Lojan: The Inspiring Journey of Jan Louët

When it comes to looms and spinning wheels, the name Jan Louët is a reference in the weaving world. Designer of the famous S10 spinning wheel, he has shaped the history of contemporary spinning and weaving.

It all began in 1973 when Jan designed his first spinning wheel. The following year, he co-founded Louët bv with his friend Clemens, which quickly became a world-renowned brand. For nearly 50 years, Jan developed looms, spinning wheels and accessories used by thousands of weavers.

But retirement was never an option for Jan Louët.
After handing over Louët bv to a new generation, he still felt the need to create. Driven by his passion for design, he continued imagining beautiful, clever and accessible products.

In 2023, he partnered with his daughter, Loes van Aken, a mechanical engineer and designer. Together, they founded Lojan bv, a modern, sustainable and family-owned business.

With Lojan, everything starts from scratch. It’s an opportunity for Jan and Loes to bring a fresh perspective, combining over 50 years of craftsmanship with a contemporary approach.
